Values
We are a Bible Teaching church.
The Bible is the Word of Life that changes people and leads them into the new life that God has promised.
We are a community that emphasizes Faith.
As we seek God for His plans and boldly put them into action, positive change will take place in our community.
We are committed to Kingdom Ministry.
We will care for the poor, serve our community, and bring hope to families in a genuine and loving manner.
We are deeply committed to Prayer and Fasting
as the key source of power for the ministry that God has called us to.
We are a Life Giving church.
God wants us to discover & use our gifts, talents & passions to encourage, heal, instruct, bless & serve others.
We are passionate about giving Glory to God.
It’s not about us, it’s about God. Pride, tradition, forms & styles can’t get in the way of honouring God.
We are a Partnership Church.
We bless other ministries to advance God’s plans & commissions. There is a spiritual unity among all Christians.
We are a Commissioning Church.
As people grow in wisdom & faith, we will affirm God’s calling on their lives and commission them to fulfill His plans.
About Us
We’d love to welcome you to our church community!
Wherever you’re at on your faith journey, you’re in the right place.
Feel free to ask questions—honestly, we all need space to figure out who God is and what life’s really about.
At HOPEcommunity, we believe God truly loves you and wants a real, personal relationship with you.
We’re all about connecting with each other so that, together, we can grow closer to God.
Our gatherings are warm, friendly, and relaxed—somewhere you can feel comfortable, be encouraged, and even have a bit of fun. On Sundays, we come together for worship and usually stick around after for coffee and conversation. Once a month, we share a potluck-style meal along with communion.
We also have small groups that meet in homes throughout the month. It’s a great way to get to know people, learn more about the Bible, and grow in prayer.
As we spend time together, friendships grow—and so does our faith.
HOPEcommunity is for everyone—families, singles, and people of all ages.
We sing, pray, and learn together, and through it all, we’re discovering God’s plan for our lives as the Holy Spirit leads us.
One verse that really shapes what we do comes from Acts 2:42:
“All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching,
and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper),
and to prayer.” (NLT)
We’d love for you to come check it out and get to know us!

He sensed a call from God to ministry in his high school years. He has taught and lead at various children’s and youth camps across Ontario. He served as a youth pastor in two churches and in 2006 with a small team planted Hope Community Christian Church in Cumberland Beach where he serves as Lead Pastor today. Steve is a passionate, evangelistic Bible teacher. He teaches a number of seminars on spiritual gifts, leadership, prayer, spiritual freedom and church outreach. He has a deep passion to see people come to faith in Jesus Christ and fulfill their calling from God as they serve through their local 07. He has a Bachelor of Religious Education (BRE) from Heritage Bible College, a Master of Practical Ministry (MPM) from Wagner University, a Master of Theological Studies (MTS) from Wycliffe College at the University of Toronto and he is currently enrolled in a Doctor of Ministry (DMin) degree at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology. Jessica Wigney
Assoc. Pastor Children's Ministries
Jessica was born and raised in Cumberland Beach. After some time away, going to school, getting married and living in southern Ontario, she moved back into the area in the spring of 2019 with her own family. She has been around since Hope’s early years. Seeing the church grow and serve the community in whatever way is needed has always been something she has loved to watch from a distance. Now being on staff, Jessica is excited for God’s leading in this role. From a young age, Jessica knew God’s calling on her life was to be teaching children. She has over 20 years of experience, working in kids ministry at her churches, babysitting, working in daycares, being a program director at a local resort and has provided in-home care. She has a degree in Psychology and a diploma in Early Childhood Education. She is also a graduate of the Children and Family Ministry Certificate Training Program offered through the Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec. It is Jessica’s hope and prayer that the kids of Hope, and Cumberland Beach come to know and love Jesus! She desires for each child to feel safe and loved by the church community and that they are excited about coming to church each Sunday, or for fun events! She loves spending time with her husband, children, family and friends around a campfire, fishing, canoeing, gardening, exploring, and making yummy food! She’s a mom to two beautiful children who she loves to sing and dance around the house with!
Laura Hammer
Dir. Young Adults & Operations
Laura grew up in the Ottawa area and found a deep love for God’s creation, music, and ministry while she lived there. Laura has served in a variety of ministries including retreat centres, small and large non-profit organizations, camps, and churches. She started playing guitar at age 13 and leading worship at age 14, which has led her to being involved in worship ministry across Canada and internationally. In addition to her work at Hope, she currently provides itinerant worship leading for retreats, churches, and small groups. Laura has completed an Associate’s degree in Ministry from Hillsong College and a Certificate in Christian Studies from Heritage College and Seminary. Her desire is to see each generation (especially young leaders) grow into their gifting and step into all that God has for their lives. She loves a great cup of coffee, reading a good book, travelling abroad, and kayaking on the beautiful rivers and lakes of Ontario.

Projects
Upcoming Building Expansion
Our next building has been approved. The site plan is complete and filed with Severn Township. We also have our preliminary drawings.
This new building will seat approximately 400 people for worship and community programming and it will add to the buildings on our church property. Our existing buildings will continue to be used for community programming, kids church, youth ministry and offices. The new building will be 7,200 square feet (60’ x 120’) in size.
Please consider how you will join in and support us in this next venture!
Total cost for this project will be approximately $5 million.
Denominational Affiliations & Partners
We emphasize that we are a Christian Church and we are affiliated with a Denomination and other partners in ministry.
We are a member church of the Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec.
We partner with a number of ministry organizations such as the Orillia Fellowship of Evangelical Ministers, Home Church Pastors Network, Home of Hope, 11/72 Regional Apostolic Network and the Georgian Bay Association of Baptist Churches.
We are an evangelical church that believes, teaches and practices the Word of God as recorded in the Bible. Because of that, our doctrine or belief statement is simply a summary of the Bible’s key teachings. Click here to download the PDF of our Belief Statement
